Abstract
The concept of ‘one health, one world’ marks the inter connectedness of human health with other living organisms and the environment. The historical perspective of animal healthcare highlights the changing roles of animals in human life and the growing importance of organized health care systems. As human societies had close contact with the animals, the symbolic possibilities of veterinary healthcare began to emerge close to religions around the world. During this period, human and animal healing practices developed along nearly parallel paths. Since human medicine had progressed much earlier, veterinary medicine lagged somewhat behind in gaining its own distinctive scientific status.
